There’s a built mobility component to a great deal of club training, and a definite, unique strangeness in building strength beyond the sagittal plane. Clubs have helped athletes increase performance and body awareness for centuries, and continue to be a valuable tool in your training arsenal. Chip Conrad is one of the country’s foremost experts on heavy clubs and uses them for any athlete of any sport, including strength athletes, fighters, traceurs and gymnasts. SandBags
Perhaps the simplest of tools with some of the biggest challenges. A sandbag is not only an extremely potent trial of strength for anyone, but more versatile for group training than just about anything else. Easy to approach but with a lifetime of movement options to master, the sandbag feels and reacts differently to all attempts to conquer it than any other strength toy available. From heavy near-max work to GPP drills and WODs, the options are bountiful. Chip Conrad has had his powerlifting and weightlifting teams supplement their barbell work with sandbags for over 15 years, not to mention his other athletes. Get tickets for sessions ($20): Friday 10am-12pm
